Artist Statement
Using painting, collage, and illustration, my work investigates ideas about psychological processes and the ways we encounter and digest information. Influenced by literature, history, mythologies, popular culture, and cartoons, each piece brings together disparate elements in order to investigate ideas of daily life, intimacy, power, and community which might seem otherwise mundane. The works act as vignettes of a larger abstracted incidence where visual motifs repeat and recontextualize, informed by personal history and inclination. I construct a moment when consumed information develops, overlaps, conflates and amplifies associations, allowing the viewer to enter a space for reflection on various potential interpretations.
