I have been wrestling with some creative block. Feels like the only way through it is to make more. Scratch the itch. Lay down some ink and keep it movin'.

ð On March 8th, I spent some time documenting @katiemerz — drawing, connecting, and selling their work by the yard at "Night in the @bklynlibrary."
A vibrant, pay-what-you-can exchange of creativity and care. A powerful reminder of the interconnected potential of people and community.

Spending the day celebrating life. Went the Natural History Museum to draw bones and thought about love, history, and legacy. Got to look at some butterflies.
It's been a lovely birthday. Having a drink for my grandfather Gilbert.
Big ol' circle of life. ðŧ
My grandfather Gilbert passed away last night. I will miss him deeply for the rest of my days. There was a heat to him—a strength and intensity exceedingly rare. Man, he was really cool.
I'll have more to say later on, but for right now, I'm going to sit with love in my heart and listen to some Marvin Gaye. He loved Marvin. I know he's out there dancing with my grandma Louise.
Dancing in the cosmos.
I'll be seeing you, thank you for everything.
ðĨ"It's all just business," he touted. Beleaguered expressions of profits and earnings.ð

ð I had the profound privilege of photographing teacher, artist, and friend @katiemerz with their new murals inside the new @bklynlibrary 's Library for Arts & Culture.
Katie's work and energy are kinetic and infectious, swiftly dancing between history, architecture, and play, never languishing too much in one area—a testament to their gymnastic intellect. In the midst of the shoot, they even took a moment to check out a book. Voracious information devourer. It's only fitting their murals have found a home in a space teeming with zines, monographs, and art ephemera.
Throughout the shoot, we were often distracted, discussing ontology, what it means to be an artist, and what we as people decidedly owe to one another. Thank you again to Katie for letting me be a fly on the wall and for their conversation and guidance throughout the years.
Do yourself a favor, go see the murals, and experience the stunning new library for yourself. Sign up for a library card, spark meaningful conversations, and allow yourself a moment to be present.

"Just riddled with hangmen and headsmen and insatiable greed."
Admittedly, I wrestled with posting this here, or sharing in this way at all. I am angry, and I am discontent, but I will not stop making work.
I will be focused, I will be steadfast, and I will make space for others.
Eat the rich.

Prioritizing studio time, connection, and presence. More art. More bikerides. More photos.
